First Frankfurt School Suicide Prevention Day with 200 students at Paulskirche

The Frankfurt city-wide student council representatives (SSRffm), the Frankfurt Suicide Prevention Network FRANS, and our co-founder, the charitable Puhl Foundation have jointly organized the first Frankfurt School Suicide Prevention Day. The event was held at Paulskirche Frankfurt on September 9, 2021. Due to COVID, “only” 200 young people, aged 14 and over, spent half a day talking with four psychologists from the health department about what students can do for themselves and others and how the taboo and stigmatization of mental illness can be better dealt with in schools.

Participants came up with and evaluated answers to these specific questions in break-out groups:

  • What awareness and prevention offerings do you find helpful?
  • What questions about the current topic/suicidal ideation do you have for and to whom?
  • What is not available and what needs to be improved?
  • What helps you through difficult phases?

The take-aways of the break-out groups are important inputs for the training and prevention measures of tomoni mental health.
