Training program for all elementary school staff

Mental illnesses are already apparent at primary school age - but these are different from the most common mental illnesses during puberty. For this reason, we are currently preparing a separate training program for all elementary school staff. We believe that a big difference can be made here, which can be life-changing and sustainable for the lives of affected children.

The tomoni.starts program, which was developed in collaboration with those affected, young people, educators and scientists, begins with a basic module that addresses the special needs of children between the ages of 6 and 10 and the role played by the adult environment during this time. This is followed by specialist modules on the topics of ADHD/ADS, anxiety and absenteeism, autism, depression and adjustment disorders, oppositional behavior, and dyslexia/dyscalculia. The course concludes with a module on talking to parents/guardians, which we consider to be particularly important.

A first dress rehearsal with 22 participants and 87 module participations took place successfully in November and we are very grateful for the feedback we received. We are currently incorporating this. The next test run is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.

We are always happy to receive questions, feedback and suggestions at social@tomonimentalhealth.org.
